Hello. I’m Stuart Waterman, a beautiful human being.
I currently work as a Strategist at Mint Digital. Previously I was Online Community Manager at AAT (the Association of Accounting Technicians), a non-profit professional membership and qualifications body with 130,000+ members worldwide. In between those gigs I did a spot of freelance content strategy consulting.
Under my stewardship (stuartship?) AAT won Best Use of Social Media at the 2015 Associations Excellence Awards, and at the 2014 Memberwise conference, AAT was named no.1 in an audit of professional associations’ use of social media. I’m proud to have built an award-winning online community in a challenging sector, having embedded social media marketing within the organisation and overseen loads of innovative, engaging and sometimes amusing content.
Prior to this role I worked on a contract as Online Copywriter at the same organisation – one of the projects I worked on during this time won the ‘Best Use of Rapid E-learning’ award at the 2013 E-learning Awards.
I write a regular email newsletter of curations and curiosities called Waterman’s Fortnightly. I started, and manage, a wee community on a service called Google+ (Google it) called Non-Fiction Addiction, which is intended to feed my craving for longform journalism and connect others who are similarly afflicted. On occasion you may also find me contributing to LUV & HAT, the site for amusing disagreements.
I used to be the owner, editor and emperor of music blog My Chemical Toilet. I was on the BBC tastemaker list for its Sound of 2010 and Sound of 2011 polls, and the site was nominated for Best Blog at the Record Of The Day Awards 2010.
I’ve written stuff for various well-regarded websites and projects (e.g. Popjustice, Hecklerspray), evidence of which you can find on this site. This proves that I am not a liar.
